With his daring and bold attire, he captivates attention and stares from every angle. We caught up with fellow Chicago kid, Wardrobe Technician and owner of The Looke. From assorted colors, textures and accessories, The Looke includes bomb ass hats, sunglasses, backpacks and my newly added favorite to the collection, JOGGERS!! While The Looke is being worn and slayed by your favorite public figures, Dutch has also added his impeccable styling to red carpets, magazine publications and more. We took a minute to chat with the man behind these looks.
Who is DutchTheOmen?
DutchTheOmen is an original. Born and raised in Englewood South side of Chicago! I've always been into fashion and setting myself apart from the norm.
Q: Can you describe your style in 3 words?
A: Chic,Comfortable and Drama
Q: Who are your style icons?
A: Alexander Mcqueen, June Ambrose, Iris Apfel, and Daphne Guinness to name a few.
Q: .How did you get started as a stylist?
A: I got started in New York assisted a celebrity stylist, a friend of mines, helped style different clients and projects he had but I wanted it so much for myself I kept being consistent and kept going for it
Q: What's your approach when you first start styling someone? Do you ask questions, go through their closet?
A: I like to do a consultation and that's basically the ice breaker for us and depending on which serves they need, I like to see their personal style
Q: What is your closet's MVP? What is your signature piece or accessory?
A: My closet MVP I'll say is an all white button up and white tee shirt. My signature piece will have to be my hats or turbans
Q: If you could only wear one designer the rest of your life, who would it be?
A: ohhhh thats kinda hard, but my life long designer would have to be McQueen
Q: What would you never wear?
A: I will never fucking wear a distressed "rock band" tee or the "yeezy inspired look" issa no for me lol
Q: Do you have any advice for the up & coming fashion stylists?
A: Study your craft, pay homage, work hard, be professional, don't be afraid to charge, and know quality over quantity
